Selling: A New Musical Comedy
Selling is an original musical comedy featuring 22 musical numbers with music and lyrics by Eli Lucas and a book by Danielle Charboneau. What began as a collection of just five standalone songs gradually evolved into a full-length musical, driven by a simple question: How far would you go to save the place you call home?
Blending heartfelt themes of grief, family, and resilience with irreverent humor and a contemporary Broadway sound, Selling follows two brothers who launch an outrageous business to save their childhood home from foreclosure after the death of their mother. The score draws from traditional musical theatre, jazz, and swing influences while balancing comedy with emotional storytelling.
The project has grown to include a complete script, professionally prepared score, and a 22-song demo recording. Selling had its first developmental table read in Summer 2026, marking the beginning of its next stage toward workshop production and further development.
Revenants: An Opera in Two Acts
Revenants is an original chamber opera with music and libretto by Eli Lucas, adapted from Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts. Exploring themes of family, morality, repression, and inherited trauma, the work reimagines the classic drama through a contemporary operatic lens.
Revenants received a developmental workshop in Watson Recital Hall in collaboration with members of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) Voice and Opera programs, bringing selections of the score to life with emerging professional artists. In 2024, the opera was First Runner-Up in West Edge Opera’s Snapshot Series in San Francisco.
