E li's first full-length opera, Revenants, was workshopped in Watson Recital Hall in collaboration with students from CCM Opera at the University of Cincinnati. He is currently composing a new sung-through coming-of-age musical and a musical comedy.
A full-length coming-of-age musical adaptation of a classic American novel, this new work is through-composed, featuring no spoken dialogue, and centers on women’s voices across three generations of a working-class family. Score and Libretto by Eli Lucas.
Revenants is a chamber opera adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts, reimagined through a lyrical, contemporary lens. The work explores generational silence, moral inheritance, and the slow unraveling of truth within a claustrophobic domestic world. The opera was first workshopped in collaboration with the CCM Opera Department at the University of Cincinnati’s Watson Recital Hall. It was later named first runner-up at West Edge Opera’s Snapshot Festival in San Francisco. Score and Libretto by Eli Lucas.
